Surplus Equipment Spotlight: Propane Tanks

Midwest Steel sold 2 of these 120,000 gallon propane tanks from a plant dismantling project in West Texas.  These massive tanks were 166 feet long and weighed 240,000 pounds each.  Net proceeds from the sale were split with the plant owner who chose Midwest Steel because of our used equipment sales capabilities.

Midwest Steel Completes Ethane Cracker Site Clearance Demolition at Port Arthur Refinery

Midwest Steel recently completed a major demolition project at Total’s Port Arthur Refinery, clearing the way for construction of a $2 billion ethane cracker.  After startup planned for late 2019, the cracker will supply up to 1 million tons of ethane per year to the Gulf Coast region.    The leadership team from Total Petrochemicals and Refining USA commended Midwest Steel for completing the project under budget, ahead of schedule, and with no injuries and incidents.

MS 150

Midwest Steel Company Inc. donated our trailer for the MS 150 bike race from Houston to Austin. The 2017 event raised more than $15 million to help fund MS research and critical programs for people living with Multiple Sclerosis. 

The MS 150 is a two-day fundraising bike ride organized by the National MS Society, South Central Chapter. The ride is the largest event of its kind in North America, with 13,000 cyclists, 3,500 volunteers, and countless spectators along the route and at the finish line in Austin.

Midwest Steel is proud to have participated in this incredible event that makes a difference for so many.

Midwest Steel Wins Top Honors for Best in Class Hard Crafts Division at Houston Business Roundtable and Houston Area Safety Council 2016 Safety Excellence Awards

Nearly 2,000 leaders from the refinery, petrochemical and industrial contractor community attended the 29th Annual Houston Business Roundtable Safety Excellence Awards at Moody Gardens on May 20, 2016.

After an intensive audit process conducted by teams of top HSE professionals from owner and contractor companies, HBR and HASC selected Bronze, Silver, Gold and Best in Category winners for exceptional safety performance, with a focus on the best practices that set medalists apart from hundreds of other nominees.

Nominated by Shell Oil Company’s Deer Park Refinery, Midwest Steel won the Top Honors for Best in Class Hard Crafts Division.  Midwest Steel also brought home a Newcomer of the Year medal for winning top awards on its first nomination.
